BaZi FAQ
Clear answers before you calculate.
What BaZi is, how BaziRoute calculates a chart, where AI fits and what the limitations are.
What is BaZi?+
BaZi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a traditional Chinese system that represents a birth moment as four pairs of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. Those eight characters are interpreted through elements, relationships and time cycles.
What information is needed for a BaZi chart?+
BaziRoute uses the birth date, local birth time and birthplace. The birthplace lets the engine resolve historical time-zone rules, daylight saving and the coordinates needed for optional true solar time.
Is BaziRoute free to use?+
The base chart and introductory experience are designed to be free without sign-up. Deeper reports, ongoing AI interpretation and additional profiles are planned as optional paid features. Pricing is still being tested.
How does BaziRoute membership billing work?+
When checkout is open, BaziRoute Member is offered as a monthly or annual automatically renewing subscription. Creem acts as Merchant of Record and handles payment, applicable tax, invoices, refunds and the customer billing portal. The exact price and renewal terms are shown in Creem checkout before payment.
When does a membership become active?+
Member access is granted only after Creem confirms the subscription through a signed server webhook. Returning from checkout does not grant access by itself. Repeat webhook deliveries are deduplicated, and access normally continues through the paid period after cancellation.
Does BaziRoute use AI to calculate the chart?+
No. Time-zone handling, solar terms and the Four Pillars are calculated by a deterministic rule engine. AI receives the finished chart facts and writes an explanation; it is not allowed to create or alter the pillars.
Why can two websites show different BaZi charts?+
Different sites may use different birth places, historical time zones, true-solar-time settings, day-boundary rules or solar-term calculations. A one-minute difference can matter close to a pillar boundary. BaziRoute exposes the rule profile with the result.
Can historical time zones affect an older birth chart?+
Yes. Birth dates before 1970 rely on historical IANA time-zone records, which can be less certain than modern records. BaziRoute shows a historical time-zone warning for those dates. If the recorded clock time is close to a solar-term, day or hour boundary, confirm the local time and offset before relying on the chart.
Can I enter a historical UTC offset from a birth record?+
Yes. The calculator has an advanced historical UTC offset field. You can enter an offset such as +07:30 and record whether it came from a birth record, family record, historical source or another source. BaziRoute then uses that offset instead of inferring it from the city and displays the override with the chart.
Is BaZi the same as the Chinese zodiac?+
No. The Chinese zodiac uses one animal sign based mainly on the year, while a BaZi chart uses the year, month, day and hour. BaZi therefore contains more structure than a single zodiac animal.
What if I do not know my birth time?+
You can still calculate a three-pillar chart from the birth date and birthplace. BaziRoute leaves the Hour Pillar blank instead of guessing it. Because the rule profile changes the Day Pillar at 23:00, it also shows that late-night alternative. If Li Chun or a monthly solar-term boundary falls on the birth date, the Year and Month alternatives are displayed as well.
Is BaZi a guaranteed prediction?+
No. BaziRoute presents traditional interpretation for reflection and cultural interest. It does not guarantee future events and is not medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice.
Does BaziRoute publish or sell birth details?+
The current development calculator sends birth details only to the calculation API and does not save them. Before paid launch, the production privacy policy will document storage, processors, retention and deletion rights.
How can I contact BaziRoute?+
Use hello@baziroute.com for product, privacy and support questions. One public contact address keeps requests consistent and easier to manage.
